Vocation / Avocation: Habitual Reader

Why I'm a Habitual Reader:

We, Toby and I, certainly are habitual readers as are all of our immediate friends. We spend lots of money on books--and do try to get them as "cheaply" as possible, otherwise the piggy bank would really be broken. Our tastes are omnivorous. We never suffer from a lack of books to chose from, just lack of space to store them. I like to be surrounded by my books--which provide a sense of comfort, knowledge and pleasure.

I actually do look at The New York Times best seller's list weekly and enjoy the reviews and the opinions of others. Sometime the reviews and even the ads encourage me to make a purchase. I read all sorts of reviews from newspapers, dorothyL, Rue Morgue, High Crimes, Sleuth of Baker Street, Strand magazine and you name it. I did actually read the DaVinci Code and enjoyed it as a light mystery with some interesting historical and religious allegations and was prompted to spend hours on line checking out the supposed religious facts. Learned a lot.

Reading is an addiction.  One book is no sooner done than another is picked up. Our biggest concerns when we travel is what books we will select to read. Clothing is not a problem. And so, we are addicted and habitual readers. We are the choir and of course, will buy, regardless of what publishers do. So, with these thoughts in mind, we are happy to support the habitual reader concept, but I am not sure that anyone in the publishing field really cares.
