Why I'm a Habitual Reader:
I haven't heard a song on the radio in at least ten years because even commuting time is reading time thanks to our friend the audio book. There's a book by my bed, in my office, in both bathrooms in my home, and one in my purse.
The last time I found myself with free time and no book I became desperate enough to read the lables on every product within a hundred-foot radius.
In addition to being a Habitual Reader, I am also a Habitual Writer. In my opinion you can't be the later without being the former.
My List of Ten: Books That Will NEVER Leave My Shelf
1. To Kill A Mockingbird
Author: Harper Lee
I reread this book every few years. Every time I'm swept into the story, even
though I know what comes next.
2. Pippi Longstockings
Author: Astrid Lindgren
Pippi was my hero growing up. My family even called me Pip or Pippi for years.
This is a wonderful adventure for kids and even though I'm just a kid at heart,
I still get a kick out of Pippi.
3. Crazy For You
Author: Jennifer Cruisie
Laugh out loud funny! A great romance mixed with humor.
4. The Stand
Author: Stephen King
Stephen King is the master. The Stand is brilliant and riveting.
5. Cell
Author: Stephen King
I put this one on par with The Stand. I was sucked in right away and couldn't
put this book down.
6. Crash Diet
Author: Jill McCorkle
A collection of short stories that are funny, moving, and heart warming.
7. Smart vs. Pretty
Author: Valerie Frankle
Another funny book! I love to laugh out loud and this one made me do just that,
in the middle of my Doctor's waiting room. Two women took the name of the book
down that day after my outburst.
8. Murder Gets A Life
Author: Anne George
Anything by Anne George is wonderful. This one is special to me because it's
the first of her books I read.
9. Archangel Protocol
Author: Lyda Morehouse
Brilliant Sci-Fi book. The first in a series. This was another book I could
not put down. I tried to find ways to prop the book up on my desk so I could
read when I had a moment at work.
10. Jane Eyre
Author: Charlotte Bronte
Sigh. Romance, mystery - what more do you need? This is one that brings me
back every few years, too.
