Why I'm a Habitual Reader:

The only time I'm not reading is when I'm sleeping or writing a new book. After the book is finished and sent to the publisher, then I gorge myself on reading everything I can lay my hands on until it's time to start writing again. I really don't think I can tell you my favorite ten books in any one category. Why? Because I'm an eclectic reader as well as a writer. Ten books, yes, but not all in the same category. Maybe ten of my all-time favorites?

My List of Ten: My All-Time Favorites

1. Jane Eyre
Author: Charlotte Bronte
A well-told haunting tale, hard to forget.

2. Dracula
Author: Bram Stoker
A fear-provoking tale that makes one conscious of the darkness of the night.

3. The Wide Sargasso Sea
Author: Jean Rhys
A heart-breaking tale of how Rochester's wife might have been driven mad.

4. The Jungle Boy
Author: Rudyard Kipling
The first of the wolf-boy tales and one unsurpassed so far.

5. Collected Works of E.A. Poe
Author: Edgar Allan Poe
Many tales and poems of unsurpassed gothic ambience.

6. Tea With The Black Dragon
Author: R.A. MacAvoy
One of the best, most believable tales of a weredragon.

7. The Beast Master
Author: Andre Norton
One of her finest tales of the supernatural.

8. Horizontal Man
Author: Helen Eustis
A murder mystery with less than perfect characters--nicely done.

9. Shapechangers
Author: Jennifer Robson
A fantasy tale that made the reader care deeply about the affected characters.

10. Now, Voyager
Author: Olive Higgins Prouty
An old-fashioned romantic tale, well told, of two wounded people that find love, but cannot be together.
