Why I'm a Habitual Reader:

I used to hide in the bathroom, leaning up against the tub, just to get a few minutes of reading away from my kids when they were little. Now that they're grown, I usually have at least two books going at the same time.

My List of Ten: Romance

1. Kingdom of Dreams
Author: Judith McNaught
It's everything a medieval romance should be.

2. Whitney My Love
Author: Judith McNaught
What's not to like about it? All of McNaught's historicals are fantastic.

3. The Virginian
Author: Owen Wister
The epic tale of the wild west seen through a green horn's POV.

4. A Rose In Winter
Author: Kathleen Woodiwiss
Dark Gothic style with bits of humor and a wonderful hero.

5. Saving Grace
Author: Julie Garwood
Again, another great story by a great author who can really write a wonderful romance.

6. Beneath The Thirteen Moons
Author: Kathryne Kennedy
A wonderful fantasy - a strong heroine and a hero that'll sweep you away on a strange water-world. My first fantasy read, but now I'm hooked.

7. Jane Eyre
Author: Charlotte Bronte
Another Gothic...one of the first, no doubt, but a great read.

8. Black Beauty
Author: Anna Sewell
You've got to love horses to love this book and since I raised them for many years, this was always a favorite to read to the kids...a little sad, but the happy ending made up for it.

9. Charlotte's Web
Author: EB White
Another great children's story. I can remember my teacher reading it to the class. Again, a little sad in places but such a sweet tale.

10. The Doctor's Daughter
Author: Donna MacQuigg
What kind of author would I be if I didn't love my own story. This is without a doubt my favorite book and was inspired by my parents.
