Why I'm a Habitual Reader:
Ever since I learned how to read with the old Dick and Jane series, books have been my best friends. I love the people and places I can visit and escape with whenever I want. It's books and reading that placed writing and the art of storytelling into my heart and soul. It's reading that made me learn about plot, structure, and characterization in my own writing. It's reading that I'm addicted to (well, next to writing, that is)!
My List of Ten: First Novels
1. Point Blank
Author: Julie Cambria
Julie is my critique partner and I've known for quite some time what a superb
storyteller she is. Point Blank will prove me right.
2. Dying To Get Published
Author: Judy Fitzwater
This was Ms. Fitzwater's first novel and it made me a fan! Her main character,
Jennifer marsh, is someone who is likable, funny, and believable. Anyone struggling
to be published will relate to Jennifer.
3. Unholy Angels
Author: Karen Fenech
Full of suspense as well as tenderness.
4. Irish Thoroughbred
Author: Nora Roberts
I was in love with her writing from the start. A true master of fiction.
5. Die A Little
Author: Megan Abbott
On my TBR list. I've heard so many good things about this debut novel.
6. The Perfect Husband
Author: Lisa Gardner
I could not put this book down to save my soul! WOW!
7. Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone
Author: J.K. Rowling
Harry Potter--he's not just for children anymore!
8. The Girl Next Door
Author: Patricia Macdonald
I'm not sure if this was the author's first title; it was the first I read
of her books and I put her right up there with Mary Higgins Clark.
9. The Charmstone
Author: C.C. Harrison
This title will not be out until spring of 2007. I love the way C.C. Harrison
writes in her blog and have heard this debut novel of hers got some rave reviews.
Another TBR for me.
10. A is for Alibi
Author: Sue Grafton
What's not to like with any of the alphabet series to date?
