Book Title: The Ruins
Author: Scott Smith

Truly, this was the worst book I've ever, ever read in my 49 years of life. Touted big and raved of by Stephen King and many online reviewers, I couldnt believe just how bad a book could possibly be. How it made it to the best-seller list is beyond me, I could find nothing redeeming whatsoever. Bad characters, crazy and highly unlikely plot, dialogue so bad you cringe when reading, and an ending that was very lame.

Book Title: Erec Rex: Dragon's Eye
Author: Kaza Kingsley

A direct rip off of Harry Potter, so much so that I have been waiting for news of the author being sued by JK Rowling. As I read each page realizing all the stolen ingredients, I truly felt appalled that another author could stoop so low.

Book Title: The Canopy
Author: Angela Hunt

A wonderful plot, exciting and adventurous story, until the end. This is a perfect example of how to destroy a good book with a horrible, improbable, just plain dumb ending.

Book Title: Catch-22
Author: Joseph Heller

I couldn't stand the inane dialgoue and circular story. I just wanted something, anything, to happen that would interest me.

Book Title: The Maze
Author: Catherine Coulter

Not the best writing in the world and predictable.

Book Title: The Search
Author: Iris Johansen

Why oh why can't writers do their homework? This book was so full of errors when it came to search dogs and dogs in general (NEVER give your dog a Tylenol unless you want to kill him/her).

Book Title: Crime and Punishment
Author: Fyodor Dostoevsky

Hmm...it would probably be Crime and Punishment, with its creepy but intriguing main character, Rodya. Much as I liked the story, it was just a little too dark and gruesome for my tastes. And there are SO many other books I'd rather read.

Book Title: A Million Little Pieces
Author: James Frey

Another memoir, this one untrue. Frey initially hooked me with his clean prose and raw account of recovery from drug addiction. But then the media onslaught began and I felt completely duped.

Book Title: The Turn of the Screw
Author: Henry James

To impress my professor, who didn't really give two beans about me, I wrote my worst-ever paper in college on the theme of "ambiguity" in this Henry James ghost story about two children and their governess. Grade on the paper: C-, largely due to bad formatting and my inept use of footnotes.

Book Title: Mr. Muo's Travelling Couch
Author: Dai Sijie

All in all it was pretty one dimensional, especially his treatment of women, and the whole plot was divisive seeming to revolve around the last line of the book. Boring.

Book Title: The Witching Hour
Author: Anne Rice

Loved the book all the way until the end when it didn't end. The book couldn't stand on it's own.

Book Title: Burnt Offerings (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter: Book 7)
Author: Laurell K. Hamilton

Books 1 through 6 rocked and while they progressed more to the romance side there was enough horror/science fiction to keep me interested. Book 7 well, porn is porn even when it's dressed up to resemble a novel.
